Software Installation Overview for Palm PDA

Important:

The installation of this software requires administrative rights on the workstation. If you do not have admin rights, please contact your LAN coordinator. A list of LAN Coordinators is available at the ITS Service Desk website by selecting “Support Contacts by Department”.

There are two basic strategies for setting up your PDA to connect to your Cal Poly email, calendar, contacts and tasks.

Wired Strategy and Wireless Strategy

Wired Strategy –

This strategy will require that you use the HotSync Manager and a cable between your computer and pda to transfer data. This strategy uses the software program Oracle Calendar Sync for synchronizing your PDA to the information stored on the Cal Poly Calendar Server. Your Events, Contacts, and Tasks will sync with your PDA when using the Oracle Calendar Sync program. Syncing your Contacts can be confusing as the Oracle Calendar Sync program will only sync the Contacts that are stored on the Cal Poly Calendar Server.

If you are using the program Oracle Connector for Outlook (OCFO) then your Contacts in OCFO will sync as they are stored on the Calendar Server. The Oracle Calendar Sync program will not synchronize your email.

Installation Overview For Palm PDA In Conjunction with Oracle Connector for Outlook (OCFO) Using the Wired Strategy
